Boy, looking at our "Announcements from the Chairman"
page, I see that I have been a little behind in my updates! To be
honest, since I took office as Town Supervisor I have been incredibly
busy attending to many issues that face our town and our constituents. I
am proud to say that the Town Board and I are making changes and taking
new directions - all in an effort to make sure that East Fishkill
remains the Town that we would want to live in - and it hasn't been
easy! Water, wastewater, budgets, building, planning, the moratorium and
more - the challenges are there. But, I find that we are making progress
in all areas and we will continue to do so.
On March 25th, I stepped down as Chairman of the
Republican Committee. I will remain on the Committee, but I am
fulfilling a promise that I made when I ran for office. It was difficult
for me, I have been involved for so long, and when I take a job I try to
do my best - but it was sad for me nonetheless. Yet, it is the right
thing to do. Although I still hold the values and principles of a
Republican dear (family values, capitalism, fiscal restraint,
accountability, responsibility for ones’ actions, and I am sure that
this is still a country of opportunity in which we can succeed through
hard work!), I now represent a wide constituency - many with differing
values and points of view.
Russ Liebler was elected Chairman at the meeting on
the 25th. I will write articles for the website and the newsletter - so
I'm not going anywhere and I promise that I will do my best to serve my
Town and my constituents. In closing, I would like to thank everyone
that helped me in my many years in the Club and my years as Committee
Vice-Chairman and Chairman.
